Free Utility To Get MS-DOS filenames

DOSname is a small program that gets you the DOS form of a specified path or file.

I've been using this for ages, never came round to actually put it online, but there we are. If you occasionally need to get the (short) form of a path or filename, this tool comes to help.

This is how DOSname looks like

Examples:

Long file name     Short file name  Long folder name           Short folder name
test_file.txt      TEST_F~1.TXT     c:\program files           c:\PROGRA~1
test_file_nr2.txt  TEST_F~2.TXT     c:\documents and settings  c:\DOCUME~1
test file nr2.txt  TESTFI~1.TXT
test file nr3.txt  TESTFI~2.TXT
